As covered in the previous sub-section you will hopefully understand that there is often times where you want to have a resource with specific properties even if the resource itself is not of a high isotope grade. It is well worth taking the time to develop the knowledge and experience that allows you to squeeze more potential out of a battleframe load-out without exceeding the MCP limitations. We have already covered how to understand and control the results of the Nanoprint however to be able to control the resources you use in those Nanoprints is the next step to truely mastering the Firefall crafting system.
The process of blending to produce specific results is not always cost effective so keep that in mind before attempting this. But the results will give you a control over your crafting which cannot be easily achieved with crystite pulled from the ground. Because blending is limited to mixing the same type of resource you will need to have a wide variety of isotopes. The first step is to identify what aspects of the resource you want and which you do not want, the idea being to blend together resources which reduce the values of the undesirable aspects while keeping the desirable aspects as high as possible. There are two ways in which to approach this process, the first is to settle for a simple 1:1 blend of resources which will result in an average of the two progenitors. However to have two resources so perfect for your needs is unlikely so the second option is to blend little by little over multiple generations of hybrids in a process called chain-blending.
To illustrate here is an example of a 1:1 blend. We will have two resources called CY-A and CY-B. To keep this easy to understand we will only consider two aspects, CON and DEN. The issue here is going to be that there isn't enough CY-A to produce the item needed however there is an abundence of the CY-B resource. Unfortunately CY-B is a less suitable for the Nanoprint compared to CY-A therefore Blending can offer a solution to this problem.
| Cy-A | CON | 80% | DEN | 10% |
| Cy-B | CON | 30% | DEN | 50% |
CON is the desirable trait and DEN is undesirable. We need more CY-A to make the item so we are mixing it with CY-B to increase the yield. At a 1:1 mixture the product will look something like this, we will called it CY-AB.
| Cy-AB | CON | 55% | DEN | 30% |
The CY-AB product is now of a high enough yield to make the item and the CON aspect value has been raised to 55% from what would have been 30% had the CY-B been used. The DEN has also been lowered from 50% to 30%. Chain-blending would follow a similar process but you would adjust the resources little by little with ratios such as 1:4 or 1:10. Unfortunately the current version of Firefall does not allow for stack splitting so we will expand upon this section once that feature has been added.
